Federated EGA
The Federated European Genome-phenome Archive (FEGA) is a distributed network of repositories for sharing biomedical research data. The federation was formally established in 2022. The Swedish ELIXIR node, National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS), was one of the first nodes to join the federation. The federation now consists of 7 full member nodes (as of March, 2024), but is expected to grow within the coming years. At the moment, 3 of the nodes (including the Swedish node) have made data available through ega-archive.org.
At the core of FEGA is the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA), which is a global repository jointly operated by EMBL-EBI in the UK and CRG in Spain. Steering documents, guidelines and infrastructure are being developed in collaboration between involved parties.
