Federated EGA

The Federated European Genome-phenome Archive (FEGA) is a formalised network of national nodes together with the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA). It supports sharing biomedical research data. FEGA was formally established in 2022. National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS), Sweden’s ELIXIR node, was one of the first nodes to join. FEGA now has 9 full member nodes (as of March, 2026), and is expected to grow. So far, 4 nodes, including Sweden, have made data available through ega-archive.org.

Within FEGA, the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA) is the international archive that connects the national nodes. It is jointly operated by EMBL-EBI in the UK and CRG in Spain. The organisations in FEGA develop shared guidance and technical services together.
