Entering metadata

Metadata is entered in the FEGA Sweden Submitter Portal. After your submission request has been reviewed and approved, FEGA Sweden will instruct you on how to create an EGA account so that you can log in to the portal and start describing your submission in more detail.

In the Submitter Portal, you register and connect the metadata objects that describe your submission. Depending on your submission, this may include information about studies, samples, experiments, analyses, datasets, and policies.

Some metadata can be registered directly in the portal as soon as you have an account and can log in. Other metadata can only be completed after your uploaded files have become visible there.

How uploaded files are used in the portal

Some parts of the metadata entry process depend on your uploaded files already being visible in the Submitter Portal. The data files themselves are not uploaded to the portal, but their file names are visible there after upload. This makes it possible to register file-related objects and link metadata to the correct uploaded files.

Before you start entering metadata

Before you begin working in the portal, it is helpful to prepare your metadata in advance. Guidance on how to do that is available in the metadata overview.

If you are unsure what metadata will be needed for your submission, please contact the FEGA Sweden Helpdesk.
