What you use the portal for
In the portal, you enter and connect the metadata that describes your submission. Depending on the submission, this includes records for studies, samples, experiments, analyses, datasets, and access rules. These records describe how the submitted data is organised and which access rules apply to each dataset.
The organisation responsible for the data decides the access rules. The FEGA Sweden Helpdesk will guide you on recording them in the portal once the relevant organisational arrangements are clear.
For guidance on the information that may be needed, see Preparing metadata.
Uploaded files in the portal
Data files are uploaded to your FEGA Sweden inbox, not through the Submitter Portal. Once the upload is complete, the file names become visible in the portal. You can then link the visible files to the relevant metadata records.
For step-by-step instructions, see Uploading data.
Starting and finishing your submission
When the Helpdesk tells you to proceed, create an EGA account to log in to the FEGA Sweden Submitter Portal. Before you click the Finalize button, contact the Helpdesk to say that your metadata is ready for review. We can review it and give feedback while it is still straightforward for you to make changes in the portal. Clicking the Finalize button sends the metadata to the FEGA Sweden Helpdesk for formal review.
For what happens after submission work is complete, including public metadata, EGA accession numbers, and data availability statements, see Publish metadata and report data availability.
